We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.
Our Mission
Our goal is to provide every family we serve with a meaningful and memorable remembrance experience, a true celebration of their loved one’s life and the time they shared together.
So who should speak of our success? That’s easy. Those we’ve served. Our words are expected, but theirs genuinely reflect the comfort and care they received.
It’s important to take the time to acknowledge the individuality of every person, the uniqueness of their personality, and the path their life took. This is not only for them but also for you. Honoring their life affirms the relationship and begins the healing process. Paying tribute to their life is truly an act of love for both of you.
While it may seem easier or less expensive to forgo a funeral or memorial service, grief experts agree that a ceremony is a vital part of the healing process. It allows family and friends to come together, share memories, and begin to find peace.
Our History
F .L. "Barney" Sharp began the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll in 1940 when he moved from Sioux City, Iowa, and purchased a Victorian styled home at the corner of 8th and Carroll Streets in Carroll. That home was demolished in 1959 and the current Sharp Funeral Home was built. Thomas Schapman of Carroll joined the firm in June 1965 and Donald Masching of Carroll joined the firm in June 1966. The Sharp Funeral Home at Breda was built in 1966. Kyle Atkinson, a native of Sheffield, Iowa, joined the Sharp Funeral Home in February 2008. In 2010 Kyle purchased the funeral homes. In 2019, Kyle purchased the Ohde-Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. That facility was closed and the extensive remodel was done to the Sharp Funeral Home to better serve all of our client families. The Sharp Funeral Home proudly serves the families of Carroll and the entire surrounding communities with dignity and respect for their loved ones.
When a death occurs away from home and you would like to have a service here, please contact our staff and we will make the necessary arrangements to bring your loved one back to our funeral home.
