Our History

F .L. "Barney" Sharp began the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll in 1940 when he moved from Sioux City, Iowa, and purchased a Victorian styled home at the corner of 8th and Carroll Streets in Carroll. That home was demolished in 1959 and the current Sharp Funeral Home was built. Thomas Schapman of Carroll joined the firm in June 1965 and Donald Masching of Carroll joined the firm in June 1966. The Sharp Funeral Home at Breda was built in 1966. Kyle Atkinson, a native of Sheffield, Iowa, joined the Sharp Funeral Home in February 2008.  In 2010 Kyle purchased the funeral homes.  Sheppard Smith a native of Algona, Iowa joined the Sharp Funeral Homes in June of 2013.  Currently Kyle Atkinson and Sheppard Smith own and operate Sharp Funeral Home.  The Sharp Funeral Home proudly serve the families of Carroll, Breda, and the entire surrounding communities with dignity and respect for their loved ones.
