Vernon Eischeid, age 56, of rural Manning, Iowa, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at his residence following a battle with cancer.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Lector will be Vern Behrens. Gift Bearers will be Lucas Lorenzen, Olivia Lorenzen, Arlene Behrens, and Becky Behrens. Music will be by Becky Windschitl and All Strings Attached with Michaela Behrens as the soloist. Mass Servers will be Mitchell Behrens and Matt Kennebeck. Eucharistic Ministers will be Art and Rose Behrens. Casket Bearers will be Keith Misselhorn, Brett Eischeid, Curtis Behrens, Michael Behrens, Marc Behrens, Matthew Behrens, and Brad Eischeid. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at Holy Spirit Church beginning at 5 P.M. Tuesday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Tuesday by Holy Spirit Parish. Visitation will resume at 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Church. The Sharp Funeral Home of Carroll is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Vernon was born on July 28, 1953, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of George and Helen (Eich) Eischeid. He attended St. Augustine School in Halbur and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1971. On August 24, 1974, he was married to Diane Behrens at St. Augustine Church in Halbur. The couple lived for a short time in Papillion, Nebraska, where he worked for a construction company and in 1975 moved to their farm home north of Manning. In April 1978 Vernon started his own construction business and the company operates today as a family business. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Vernon loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed restoring Mopar cars, going to car shows, and tinkering in his shop.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Eischeid of Manning; his children, Tracie Lorenzen and husband Jason of Milford, Ryan Eischeid and fiancé Brooke Forke of Manning, and Alex Eischeid of Omaha, Nebr.; his grandchildren, Lucas and Olivia Lorenzen; sisters, Diane Brant and husband Duane of Lanesboro, Shirley Eischeid of Kansas, and Geralyn Dopheide of Halbur; his brothers, Don Eischeid and wife Jane of Halbur, Randy Eischeid and wife DeAnn of Halbur, and Gene Eischeid and wife Donna of Pennsylvania; his parents-in-law, Don and Arlene Behrens of Carroll; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane Behrens of Omaha, Nebr., Vern and Becky Behrens of Carroll, Rhonda and Tom Feldman of Carroll, and Kathy and Keith Olberding of Omaha, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Eischeid; and a sister-in-law, Jana Behrens.
