T.W. Wright, age 70 of Carroll, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Con-Celebrants will be Fr. Craig Collison, Fr. Brian Feller, and Fr. Robert Gralapp. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir with Jake Gute as cantor. Lector and Eucharistic Minister for the funeral mass will be Phil Phillips. Gift Bearers will be: Sydnie, Ethan, Ella, and Joe Pottebaum. Casket Bearers will be: Barry Bruner, Steve Kock, Glenn Erps, Doug Gute, Matt Pottebaum, and Nick Pottebaum. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Wednesday where visitation will resume at 12:30 p.m. and continue until time of the funeral mass.

Born on December 13, 1945 in Atlantic, Iowa, T.W. was the son of Walter and Opal Mae (Peters) Wright. He grew up in the Atlantic, Lewis, and Griswold area before moving to Council Bluffs. T.W. worked at Jenny Edmundson Hospital and later joined the United States Army in 1970. He served during Vietnam and was a “tunnel rat.” T.W. was honorably discharged in 1974 with the rank of Supply Sargent.
He then attended the Studio Academy of Art in Omaha, Nebraska where he met his future wife Yvonne Rotert of Lidderdale, Iowa. They were united in marriage on January 28, 1978. The couple moved to Carroll in 1980 and established “Wright Arts and Signs.” In 1981, T.W. began working for the Post Office until his retirement in 1995.
T.W. served as a Service Officer for 20 years with the American Legion and the V.F.W. He loved gambling at the casinos in Council Bluffs. He was a member of the Carroll American Legion, V.F.W. and Disabled Veterans where he served in various capacities within each organization. T.W. was also a member of St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. T.W. also loved drawing and feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his backyard.
Left to celebrate his life is his wife Yvonne Wright of Carroll; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marlene (Leon) Riesberg of Florence, AZ, Elaine Pottebaum of Carroll, Vernon (Shirley) Rotert of Marion, Bonnie Pottebaum of Carroll and Rayoma Rotert of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
T.W. was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Marie Rotert; and his brothers-in-law: Harold Rotert, Don Pottebaum, and Marty Pottebaum.
