While employed at Hardees he was transferred to Carroll where he also worked at Ike Auen Distributing and Reicks Construction. Scott and I met in Junior High. Our friendship started with athletics. We both read the book "Instant Replay", by Jerry Kramer. That book was about Mr. Kramer and the Green Bay Packers during the influence of Coach Vince Lombardi. It ignited a passion for football and the Packers that we shared until Scott passed. The real fire of our friendship began on the football field during a tackling drill. The entire team was lined up across from one another to practice tackling techniques. Scott and I were hitting each other with such ferocity you'd have thought we hated each other. The opposite was true. It began a camaraderie, respect, and love for the other that lasted our entire lives. He was my Jerry Kramer. He played the same position, pulling guard, as Kramer. I played halfback and followed his blocks hundreds of times knowing he was going to clear the way with the determination that marked him forever. My last communication with Scott was a text telling him that I had just ordered a Packer jersey with "Kramer" and the number 64 on it. I won't ever wear it without the honored memory of Scott Knowler.
