Graveside Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll, where military honors will be conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. graveside service.
Salvatore “Sully” Dominic Guarniere, son of Dominic Carlos Guarniere and Dorthea Mae Schmidt, was born July 12, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up in Hartford, WI and graduated from Slinger High School. He enjoyed musical theater during high school and was the lead actor for several plays. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965. He honorably served for 20 years with 3 tours in the Vietnam War. Sully’s expertise in the military was communications from a Technical Specialist, Master Instructor, to a Squadron Superintendent. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant and earned the following medals: Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. During the military he obtained a B.S. Degree in Economics and an Associate Degree in Engineering Applied Technology. Upon retiring from the military, he obtained a B.S. in Logistics Engineering and worked as a logistical engineer providing contract support for Hill AFB, UT. He was active within the community as a SHARE volunteer coordinator. Sully retired in 2010.
Sully also faithfully served the Knights of Columbus. He held positions of Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator. Sully met his beloved wife, Jolene Bernholtz, and married June 3, 1967 in Omaha, NE. They are the parents of two adult children. He was a loving and supportive husband and father. Sully adored his granddaughter, Rhea Pintor, and enjoyed many laughs with lots of teasing. He died in Layton, Utah on October 7, 2015.
He is survived by his spouse, Jolene, and two children: Rodney Guarniere of Germantown, WI and his spouse Debra Guarniere; and Stacy (Guarniere) Pintor of Colorado Springs, CO and her daughter, Rhea Pintor. Sully is also survived by his two sisters: Janice Spaeth, and Georgia Horetzki and her spouse Hans Horetzki of Beaver Dam, WI.
Preceding his death are his parents; brother-in-law Ralph Spaeth; and son-in-law Captain Dennis L. Pintor (US Army deceased, KIA, Operation Iraqi Freedom).
