Rudell Snyder, age 80, of Carroll, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, early Tuesday morning, December 21, 2010 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Lector will be Rudell’s son-in-law, Joe Schwaller. Gift Bearers will be Rudell’s daughter-in-laws: Julie Snyder, Becky Snyder, and Janel Snyder. Casket Bearers will be Rudell’s sons: Jim Snyder, Donald Snyder, Dave Snyder, and Mike Snyder, and Rudell’s son-in-laws: Wes Horn, Bob Running, Joe Schwaller, Bobby Molak and Mike Sturm. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
The family will receive friends at the Holy Spirit Church beginning at 9:30 a.m., Thursday morning until time of the funeral mass.

Born on February 1, 1930 at Carroll, Iowa, Rudell Frank Snyder was the son of Mathew and Minnie (Rutten) Snyder. He spent his entire lifetime in the Carroll Community and attended St. Lawrence School. Following his schooling, Rudy began working various jobs and also assisted his family with their farm operation. He then began working for Heider Manufacturing in Carroll where he worked for over 30 years. Rudell was married to Ruth Ann Kennebeck on November 14, 1949 at St. Mary’s Church in Willey, Iowa. Rudy was a simple man; a man of little words; but a man who was a great role model as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved a good ball game. He cherished his time at home and always had some small project that needed doing. Mr. Snyder was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Snyder of Carroll, his daughters: Judy Horn and her husband Wes of Carroll, Jeanie Running and her husband Bob of Carroll, Diane Schwaller and her husband Joe of Omaha, Nebraska, Sue Molak and her husband Bobby of Carroll, and Jodie Sturm and her husband Mike of Carroll; his sons: Jim Snyder and his wife Julie of Pella, Donald Snyder of Lima, Peru, Dave Snyder and his wife Becky of Carroll, and Mike Snyder and his wife Janel of Carroll; 26 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Millie Dion of Carroll, and Evelyn (John) Wheeler of New Port Ricky, Florida; and one brother, Marvin Snyder of Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Thomas in infancy, a brother Leonard Snyder; a brother-in-law, Hank Dion, and a sister-in-law, Florence Snyder.
