RoseMary Korwes, 94 of Carroll, died early Sunday morning, July 3, 2016 at her home in Carroll, surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Craig Collison. Mass server will be: Jackson Langin. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir with Sherry Loughran as cantor. Lectors for the funeral mass will be: Jennifer Vroman and Janine Howard. Gift Bearers will be: Ahnalee Wiltfang, Leanne Graves, and Tricia Johannes. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Kathy Kraus and Wayne and Mary Lou Reiman. Casket Bearers will be: Robert Korwes, Ryan Schlater, Steve Vorsten, James Luchtel, Craig Luchtel, Doug Vogel, Brian Schmitz, and Aaron Kraus. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Wednesday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. until time of the funeral mass.

Born on May 2, 1922 at Roselle, Iowa, RoseMary was the daughter of Herman Sr. and Susan (Schon) Stitz. She spent her younger years near Roselle and attended Holy Angels School.
On December 28, 1943, she was united in marriage to Edward Korwes at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle. Ed and RoseMary made their home just west of Carroll where they were engaged in grain and livestock farming. RoseMary was a devoted homemaker raising their children and was also employed at Tony’s restaurant for over 25 years.
RoseMary loved the farm life; whether helping with the farm operation, tending to her gardens or watching the birds and her cats. She was a skilled seamstress, quilter and was involved with the Rugs for Church group. RoseMary was an avid Chicago Cubs Baseball fan and also enjoyed Iowa State Basketball. She volunteered with New Hope Village and also with the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and hosting family gatherings at the Korwes Family Century Farm. RoseMary was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.
Survivors include her children: LaVerne Korwes and his wife Jane of Carroll, Kathleen Luchtel and her husband Alan of Carroll, Patricia Vogel and her husband Lynn of Carroll, Karen Schmitz and her husband Daniel of Carroll and Julie Kraus and her husband John of Urbandale; her son-in-law, Lyle Vorsten of Carroll; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
RoseMary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward Korwes; her daughter, Marie Vorsten; her great-granddaughters: Megan Hanner and Isabel Luchtel; and her brothers: Lawrence, Joseph, and Herman Stitz.
