Raymond Friedman, age 88, of Carroll, Iowa, died Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Lector will be Tom Schapman. Gift Bearers will be Leo and Donna Billmeier. Eucharistic Minister will be Don Masching. Music will be provided by organist Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Adult Choir. Casket Bearers will be Danny Bueltel, Danny Tigges, Leo Billmeier, Andrew Billmeier, Eugene “Bud” Wagner, and Lynn Venteicher. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 9 A.M. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Church and last until the time of the funeral mass. The Sharp Funeral Home of Carroll is in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Friedman was born on October 26, 1921, at Roselle, Iowa, the son of Matt and Caroline (Kohorst) Friedman. He spent his younger years in the Roselle community and attended Holy Angels School. On July 27, 1953, he was married to Dorothy Werner in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Carroll. Ray had been employed for forty-four years in various capacities at the Carroll Daily Times Herald Newspaper. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Survivors include a sister, Norma Jean Morhain of California; a brother, Melvin Friedman of New York; a sister-in-law, Ione Daisy of Carroll; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Friedman, in October 1987; his parents; a brother, Gilbert Friedman; and sisters, Lorraine Carroll, Edna Mae Friedman, and Lucille Riesberg.
