Peter M. Vakulskas, 85, of Carroll, Iowa, and formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
A private family funeral service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Steven Brodersen officiating. Casket Bearers will be Peter’s grandchildren: Angie Klocke, Tammie Klocke, Sara Vakulskas, Nick Klocke and fiancé Michelle Nieland, Peter Michael Vakulskas, Emily Vakulskas, Abby Vakulskas, and Anna Vakulskas. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
In lieu of flowers, Mass or memorial offerings may be sent to the family of Peter Vakulskas, c/o Sharp Funeral Home, 226 W. 8th St. Carroll, Iowa 51401.

Peter Michael was born on January 13, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Anton and Mary Ann (Perevich) Vakulskas. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1948 and then served in the United States Army until 1952 as a Morse Code Communications Specialist.
On May 22, 1955 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mercedes Pirogowicz, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sioux City. The couple spent their lifetime in Sioux City where Peter was employed as a machinist at Concrete Pipe Machinery Company. Peter was devoted to the Lord Jesus and could always be found praying the rosary honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Peter is survived by his wife Mercedes; two sons: Steve (Kelly) Vakulskas of Chaska, MN and Ed (Anne) Vakulskas of Maplewood, MN; two daughters: Monica (Dean) Klocke of Halbur and Mary Sue Vakulskas of Coon Rapids, MN; eight grandchildren: Sara Vakulskas, Peter Michael Vakulskas, Emily Vakulskas, Anna Vakulskas, Angie Klocke, Tammie Klocke, Nick Klocke and fiancé Michelle Nieland, and Abby Vakulskas; his favorite niece, Theresa Bouyok; and special friends, Otis and Vicki Boyok.
His parents, three brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
