Norma, daughter of Norbert and Viola (Krantz) Truhe, was born May 17, 1944. She graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1962.
On August 25,1962, Norma was united in marriage with Ronald Macke. The couple made their home in Carroll where Norma was a stay-at-home mom to her three children. Norma bought and ran Norma’s Ceramics and enjoyed running the Swan Lake concession stand for several years.
In 1990, Norma was diagnosed with lymphoma. After completing chemo treatments, she then attended DMACC Nursing School and graduated as an RN at the age of 53. She first worked at the Carroll Manor for two years, spending the next 18 years on St. Anthony’s Mental Health Unit, retiring in 2017 at the age of 73.
Norma married Richard Enos in 1989. His two children and five grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
She spent her last 7 years with her ‘partner-in-crime’ and best friend Lou Booher in Omaha, Nebraska. This relationship blessed her with more family that she loved dearly. Norma believed that family was built through love, not blood, and she cherished the many people she was proud to call family.
After being cancer free for many years, she again beat lymphoma in 2021, only to lose this final cancer battle.
Norma is survived by her children: Sandra (Larry) Gansch of Altoona; David (Kathleen) Macke of Carroll; and Jeffrey Macke of Ankeny; ten grandchildren: Holly (Brad) Warnke, Amy (Luke) Robinson, Kaitlin (Casey) Petersen, Seth Macke, Hannah (Josh) Miravalles, Sara (Bryce) Phothisen, Sydney Macke, Sarah Gansch, Kaiden Macke and Chloe Macke; and her great-grandchildren: Adaline, Kylie, Cora, Lilly, Elly, Ashten, Dexter, Ivy, Emmett and Lokk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter Lexi Macke; sisters: Wilma (Ray) Bruning, Betty (Don) Willey, and Rose Platz; two nephews Bill and Tim Willey and a niece Deb Bruning.
