Nela James Atkinson, infant daughter of Kyle and Piper Atkinson of Carroll, was stillborn on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Homilist will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Mass Servers will be: Brock Badding, Jack Badding, and Braxton Vonnahme. Music will be by Kate Cuddy, Sherry Loughran, and Kathleen Macke. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Ryan Milligan. Gift Bearers will be Nela’s cousins, Noah Atkinson and Andrew Atkinson. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Ashley Schweers and Liz Boeckman. Casket Bearers will be Nela’s Godparent’s, Stacy Gehling and Chad Kanne. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday morning at Holy Spirit Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be left in Nela’s name to be directed to a later designation.

Although she was taken from us way too soon, she will forever be our Nela and forever in our hearts. Fly high sweetheart.
Nela will be forever remembered by her parents, Kyle and Piper Atkinson of Carroll; her big sister, Lakelyn at home; her maternal grandfather, Don Kanne of Carroll; her paternal grandparents, Jim and Deb Atkinson of Sheffield; her aunts and uncles: Nick (Jeana) Kanne of Carroll, Kenzie (Steve) Riesberg of Carroll, Kipp (Sheri) Kanne of Carroll, Kacie Kanne of Carroll, and Nathan Atkinson of Sheffield; her paternal great-grandfather, Merlin Plagge of Sheffield; her cousins: Carson, Gavin and Ross Kanne, Kaden and Aerington Kral, Weber and Braytn Kanne, Noah and Andrew Atkinson; as well as great aunts and great uncles and other extended relatives.
Nela enters heaven into the arms of her grandmother, Lonnie Kanne; her great-grandparents: Edward and Anna Lehmann, Aloys and Louise Kanne, Shirley Plagge, and James and Roberta Atkinson; her uncle, Andrew James Atkinson; and her cousins: Nicholas Andrew Atkinson, Dylan Anthony Hoefer, and Holly Volquartsen Kanne.
