Mary Elizabeth (McClure) Roberts went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2025. She passed away peacefully at Addington Place of Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 89.
Mary will be laid to rest at Highland Township Cemetery in Churdan, Iowa Wednesday, September 3rd, with her immediate family present. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Mary was born on October 18, 1935 to Delos James McClure and Esther Lena (Belville) McClure in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Rockwell City High School and later attended Iowa State Teachers’ College, where she graduated with a major in Music Education and a minor in Art Education. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota sorority and taught art and music at various schools in the U.S.
Mary was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Carl Roberts June 8, 1958 in Rockwell City, Iowa at First Presbyterian Church. Four children were born: Gerry (Lynn) Roberts, Lisa
(Sonny) Kessebeh, Carla (Jochen) Ideker, and Matthew (Sherri) Roberts. Mary has sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mary’s love of Jesus gave her life great meaning. She was also an accomplished singer, artist, and musician of piano, trumpet, and French horn.
Mary had a keen interest in all animals, but especially training and showing Shetland sheepdogs, raising canaries, and riding horses.
