Helen Quandt, 92, of Carroll, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Mass servers will be Helen’s great-grandchildren Kennedee and Jacie Loew. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir with Jake Gute as Cantor. Lector will be Helen’s granddaughter Amy Loew. Gift Bearers will be Helen’s granddaughters: McKenna Quandt, Kandi Quandt, Mandy Quandt, and Angie Kepner. Eucharistic ministers will be Chris Loew, Kris Quandt, and Ann Christiansen. Casket bearers will be Helen’s grandchildren: Jason Rickers, Brian Rickers, Bruce Kendle, Erin Campbell, Bridget Blevens, Matt Quandt, Paul Quandt, Brooke Lenz, and Kyle Lenz. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on June 13, 1922 in Clarinda, Iowa, Mary Helen was the daughter of James and Blanch (Perigo) Rucker. She grew up in the Clarinda community where she attended school. On November 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to Paul Quandt at Shenandoah, Iowa. The couple lived in Sioux City for a short time before moving to the Carroll area in 1948. Paul and Helen owned and operated Quandt Garage which later became Quandt Auto Salvage where she was active in the business operations until she moved to St. Anthony Nursing Home. Helen was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, bowling, swimming, and her different coffee groups. Most of all Helen enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Helen was a member of the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and St. Lawrence Parish.
Helen is survived by her children: Gary Quandt of Carroll, Shirley Kendle of Carroll, Phyllis Rickers of Carroll, Steve “Cuda” (Debra) Quandt of Carroll, Tom (Lisa) Quandt of Carroll; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild; her sister Hazel Odell of Portland, OR; her brothers and sisters in-laws: Jim (Donna) Quandt of Westside, Dorothy Kluver of Carroll, Pearl Quandt of Carroll, Larue Quandt of Denison, Velma Quandt of Council Bluffs, Veronica Quandt of Lidderdale, and Ruth Ann Quandt of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul in 1985, a son, Allan Quandt, her siblings: Ralph Rucker, Harold Rucker, Roy Rucker, and Alma Wiseman.
