Mary Klocke, 84 of Carroll and formerly of Dedham, died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at her home in Carroll.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Fr. Andrew Hoffmann, assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music will be provided by Marcy Anderson and the St. Joseph’s Choir. Lector for the mass will be Megan Volp. Gift Bearers will be Mary’s daughter, Kelly Schubert and her husband Jeff Schubert. Eucharistic Minister will be Donna Ankenbauer. The Dedham American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. by St. Joseph’s Parish. Mary’s family will also greet friends one hour prior to mass time at the church on Wednesday.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for the Dedham Fire Department or the Animal Rescue League of Carroll.
Born on October 16, 1928 at Dedham, Iowa, Mary Beverly was the daughter of William “Jim” and Lena (Theulen) Axman. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Dedham and later graduated from Carroll High School. Following her schooling Mary owned and operated Mary’s Café in Dedham. On January 26, 1959 she married Louis Klocke at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The couple made their home in Dedham where Louis farmed and Mary worked at Frohlich’s Super Value in Coon Rapids and also for the Iowa Department of Social Services. Mary enjoyed watching the Game Show Network, all types of animals, playing games on the computer, especially bingo, scratch tickets, and spending time with her family. In August of 2010, Mary moved to Carroll to live with her daughter Kelly and her husband Jeff. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Dedham, Parish Ladies Guild, and the Dedham American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Schubert and her husband Jeff of Carroll; one brother, Russ (Freda) Axman of Dedham; two sisters: Marcy (John) Cook of Carroll and Carol Axman of Dedham; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Luella Klein of Carroll, Kathleen Irlmeier of Audubon, Leana (Don) Kalkhoff of Templeton, Leona Erps of Denison, Carol (Eugene) Hoffman of Carroll, Cecil Cox of Harlan, and Lorraine Klocke of Dedham; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Louis in March of 1999; her sister, Shirley Christiansen; and her brothers John and Joe Axman.
