Marie Rotert, age 92, of Lidderdale, Iowa, died Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Holy Family Church in Lidderdale. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lector will be Deb Brincks. Gift Bearers will be Joan Halbur and Shelly Gute. Mass Server will be Sydnie Pottebaum. Eucharistic Ministers will be Karen Scharfenkamp, Lois Kock, and Michelle Pudenz. Casket Bearers will be Dean Riesberg, Matt Pottebaum, Nick Pottebaum, Craig Rotert, Donna Pottebaum, Deb Danner, and Sheila Brody. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Lidderdale. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 P.M. Tuesday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Tuesday by Holy Family Parish. Marie was born on September 3, 1918, at Halbur, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Werder) Herbers. She graduated from St. Augustine School in Halbur. Marie and Joseph T. Rotert were married on September 27, 1938, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur. The couple moved to Lidderdale where they operated Rotert Garage until 1974. Marie was a homemaker and lived in Lidderdale until 1999 when she moved to Orchard View in Carroll. She entered Regency Park Nursing Home in 2006. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Parish Rosary Sodality. Marie was active in her parish making baptismal gowns for all the newborns of the parish. She enjoyed her family, refunding, playing cards, quilting, sewing, and participating in craft shows. Marie is survived by her children, Marlene Riesberg and husband Leon of Florence, Ariz., Elaine Pottebaum and husband Don of Lidderdale, Vernon Rotert and wife Shirley of Marion, Yvonne Wright and husband T.W. of Carroll, and Bonnie Pottebaum and husband Marty of Carroll; a daughter-in-law, Rayoma Rotert of Carroll; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; her sisters, Helene Heithoff of Manning, Margaret Petsche of Petersburg, Nebr., Gertrude Esser of West Des Moines, and Edna Dalhoff of Halbur; and sisters-in-law, Berdine Herbers of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mary Haverman of Carroll, and Ruth Rotert of Carroll. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Rotert, in July 1977; her son, Harold Rotert, in 2000; her parents; and a brother, Orry Herbers.
