Mary Boje, 91 of Harlan and formerly of Carroll, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at her residence in Harlan.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Officiating will be Fr. Timothy Johnson from Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Mary’s family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home until time of the service.

Born on September 17, 1920 at Carroll, Iowa, Mary was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Wiederhold) Dinan. She grew up in the Carroll Community and graduated from Carroll High School. Following her high school education Mary attended Duchesne College in Omaha where she studied music. Mary returned to Carroll and was married to Harold Boje on November 30, 1939. Harold and Mary made their home in Carroll where Harold and his brother Elmer owned and operated Boje Construction. In 1970 they moved to Colorado Springs where they ran a campground for 15 years. Harold and Mary returned to Iowa and made their home in Harlan where she was currently living. Mary enjoyed shopping, attending garage sales, arts and crafts, and socializing with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Michael’s Parish in Harlan, and formerly a member of St. Lawrence and Holy Spirit Parishes in Carroll.
Survivors include her sons: Brian Boje of Harlan and Scott Boje and his wife Sheila of Kirkman; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Robert (Bev) Arkfeld of Defiance; as well as other extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold in 1989; three daughters: Beverly Mayerhoffer, Barbara Landon, and Linda Arkfeld; and one brother, Dick Dinan.
