Marian Golwitzer, age 82, of Carroll, died Saturday, September 6, 2008, at the Carroll Health Center. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2008 at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. The lector will be Tom Sibbel. Gift Bearers will be Nichole Golwitzer, Jaime O’Brien, and Michelle Tuel. Mass Servers will be Eric Golwitzer and Erica Golwitzer. Eucharistic Ministers will be Jessica Golwitzer, and Jean and Urban Knobbe. Casket Bearers will Brian Siegert, David Sigler, Josh Golwitzer, Matt Golwitzer, Brad Golwitzer, Austin Golwitzer, and Mike Skomal. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Lidderdale. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday where there will be a rosary prayed at 3:00 p.m., followed by a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. by the Parish. Marian Golwitzer was born on May 13, 1926 at Roselle, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Anna (Behrens) Sibbel. She grew up in Roselle and attended Holy Angels School. On January 21, 1947 she was married to Leonard Golwitzer at Holy Angels Church in Roselle, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple moved to a farm near Halbur and in 1956 moved to a farm Southeast of Lidderdale. In 1977 Marian moved to Carroll, after the passing of her husband in 1975. She worked at Kuemper High School where she helped with the lunch program for 20 years, retiring in 1996. Marian loved gardening, working with her flowers, walking, reading, and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll. Survivors include her children, Carol Ann Siegert of Council Bluffs, Mary Lou Lancour of Escanaba, MI, Jim (Kathy) Golwitzer of Keller, TX, Sharon (John) Skomal of Omaha, NE, Leonard (Vicki) Golwitzer of Lakewood, CO, Jan (Terry) Sigler of Carroll, Don (Renee) Golwitzer of Carroll, Mike (Linda) Golwitzer of Council Bluffs, Dennis (Sheila) Golwitzer of Crescent, and Lyle (Connie) Golwitzer of Carroll; 29 Grandchildren; and 22 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1975, her parents, two granddaughters, Megan Golwitzer and Angela Golwitzer, a daughter-in-law, Jane (Huegerich) Golwitzer, two brothers, Melvin and Ray Sibbel, and two sisters in childhood.
