Marcella Golwitzer, 89 of Carroll, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Dale Reiff. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Vernon Drees. Gift Bearers will be Marcella’s granddaughters: Julie Sander, Ali Martinez, and Heather Wilson. Eucharistic Minister will be Jean Knobbe. Casket Bearers will be Marcella’s grandsons: Corey Boell, Travis Boell, Bob Allen, Jon Allen, Heath Golwitzer, and Scott Golwitzer. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on October 8, 1923 at Willey, Iowa, Marcella was the daughter of Herman and Theresa (Von Bon) Brincks. She spent her childhood in the Willey area and attended St. Mary’s School. On September 7, 1943 Sally married Arnold Golwitzer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey. The couple farmed near Willey until 1951 when they moved to the Lidderdale area where they farmed until 1985 and then retired to the Carroll Community. Sally was a devoted mother and housewife and assisted her husband with their farm operation. She loved music, photos and videotaping various family occasions. Arnie and Sally enjoyed going dancing with their close friends, Vernon and Phyllis Drees. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church and formerly a member of Holy Family Church in Lidderdale.
Survivors include her husband Arnold of Carroll; her children: Joleen (Dave) Wilson of Arvada, CO, Sandy (Joe) Boell of Carroll, Mary Jo (Dave) Allen of Scranton, and Dan (Marleen) Golwitzer of Glidden; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Flora Brincks of Carroll, Clarence (Mary Ann) Golwitzer of Wesley, Leona Drees of Carroll, Regina Vogt of Rochester, MN, Alvina Rotert of Storm Lake, Josie Golwitzer of Carroll, and Theresa Golwitzer of Algona; as well as other extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Judy Haskel and husband Tom; her son, Duane Golwitzer; two grandchildren: Chad Haskel and Jodi Golwitzer; two brothers: Robert and Laverne Brincks; three sisters: Rose Meiners, Bertha Lohman, and Loretta Lohman.
