Marc A. Wernimont, age 56, of Ida Grove, and formerly of Carroll, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska from complications of a stroke suffered on Christmas Day.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Fr. Merlin Schrad will officiate. Casket Bearers will be Ken Ware, Sam Wernimont, Mike Kruger, Keith Adams, Mike McGowan, and Kyler Fehring. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marc Alan, the son of Roger and Cheryl (Adams) Wernimont was born on December 1, 1966 in Carroll, Iowa. He attended St. Lawrence Grade School, and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1985. He furthered his education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he was a member of the university’s bowling team. While in Nebraska, Marc was a member of the Nebraska National Guard, and later transferred to the Iowa National Guard.
During his school years he enjoyed playing baseball on the team coached by his dad, Roger as well as bowling, which was an activity enjoyed by the whole family. He and Cheryl won the State Junior Bowling Title when he was 13 and went onto bowl in the National Tournament in Washington D.C. Following his bowling at the collegiate level, he continued bowling on local leagues and state and national tournaments. His bowling career included 3-300 games. In addition to bowling Marc enjoyed the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Coin Collecting, and the Washington Redskins.
Throughout Marc’s life he was a hog farmer for many years and settled in Ida Grove, Iowa where he worked at Gomaco where he made many friends throughout his neighborhood and work. Marc has a special place in his heart for his family. He enjoyed when his mom would come visit for lunch and maybe a trip to the casino.
Left to celebrate Marc’s life is his mother: Cheryl of Carroll; siblings: Jill of Carroll; Jodi (Rod) of Cedar Falls, Tony (Bobbi) of Glidden; his nieces: Kelsi, Kenzi, Lexi, and Emma; nephew: Kyler, and a great niece, Harper; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended relatives.
Marc was preceded in death by his father, Roger; paternal grandparents: Albert and Rosalia Wernimont; maternal grandparents: Glenn and Kathryn Adams; step-grandfather: Paul Bayer; and a nephew: Cody Ryan Heller.
