Colet Keat, age 94 of Carroll, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Lectors will be Melanie Daniel and Andrea Daniel. Gift Bearers will be Jennifer Schulz, Jessie Daniel, and Sarah Danner. Eucharistic Minister will be Denis Tigges. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Casket Bearers will be Brian Keat, Jason Daniel, Justin “Rusty” Daniel, Jake Schulz, John Danner, and Matt Petersen. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Friday followed by a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Friday by Holy Spirit Parish. Visitation will resume at 9 A.M. Saturday at Holy Spirit Church until the time of the funeral mass.

Colet was born on December 16, 1917, at Halbur, Iowa, the daughter of John Adolph and Elizabeth Clara (Janning) Eich. Colet attended St. Augustine School in Halbur until third grade when her family moved to Carroll where she attended Saint Peter and Paul School. Following her formal education she helped her mother with the family and worked for the Neu family babysitting and helping with the laundry and ironing. She also was a waitress at the Skelly Café. Colet and George Keat were married on December 26, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll where she raised her family, babysat in her home, and eventually took care of all six of her grandchildren. Colet became a resident of the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in 2008. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Parish Ladies Guild. Colet enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, playing cards, Chicago Cubs baseball, journaling, and word search books.
Survivors include her four children, Rick Keat and his wife Mary of Carroll, Judi Daniel and her husband John of Carroll, Jane “Bunny” Keat of Carroll, and Ron Keat and his wife Deb of Auburn; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; three sisters, Rita Boyer of Boone, Eileen Kokenge of California, and Gladys Ebner of California; and by two sisters-in-law, Marie Eich and Kitty Eich.
Colet was preceded in death by her husband, George, in September 1970; her parents; four brothers, Leroy, Otmar, Adolph, and John Eich; and two sisters, Vera Wiskus and Betty West.
