Louise, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Janning) Gross was born on March 6, 1940 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up west of Carroll, and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School. After her formal education Louise worked as a secretary for what is now known as Farner-Bocken Company.
On April 15, 1961 Louise was united in marriage to Don Mikkelsen at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Maple River. The couple made their home near Dedham, where Louise was a devoted homemaker, and also assisted with the farming operation. The couple retired to the Carroll community in 2009.
Louise enjoyed quilting, bird-watching, shopping, traveling, gardening, and watching many softball games. Most of all Louise enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her children, and grandchildren. Louise had a deep devotion to her faith, and the Blessed Mother, praying the Rosary frequently.
