Louis Anthofer, age 93, of Dedham, Iowa, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at St. Joseph Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Father Anthony Pick assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Tuesday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Dale Sporrer. Gift Bearers will be Larry Anthofer, Dorothy Beyerink, Jenny Silliman, and Mary Ann Meek. Mass Servers will be Danny and Brittany Baumhover. Soloist will be Lindsay Drake. Eucharistic Ministers will be Angie Schreck, Dale Sporrer, and Bob Sporrer. Honorary Pallbearers will be great and great great nieces and nephews. Casket Bearers will be Randy Anthofer, Mike Beyerink, Josh Anthofer, Todd Schreck, Chad Sigler, Daniel Drake, Chris Willenborg, and Travis Drake. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Monday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Monday by St. Joseph Parish. Mr. Anthofer was born on November 19, 1914, at Dedham, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Frances (Muhlbauer) Anthofer. He spent his lifetime in the Dedham community and attended St. Joseph School. Mr. Anthofer farmed south and east of Dedham until 1995 when he moved in to Dedham. He was a long time member of the Carroll County Extension Board and was a Newton Township Trustee. He became a resident of the Thomas Rest Haven in 1999. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish and served his parish as an usher and bell ringer. Mr. Anthofer enjoyed his nieces and nephews, playing cards, animals, visiting the sick, and visiting with his friends. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Anna Anthofer of Dedham; many nieces and nephews; and many great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph, Henry, John, Peter, Frank, Paul, and Charles Anthofer; sisters, Frances Anthofer, Emma Franklin, Theresa McQueen, and Ann Reiling; a niece, Margaret Tapp; and a nephew, Joe Anthofer.
