Laura R. Klocke, age 87, of Carroll, Iowa, and formerly of Dedham, Iowa, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at her residence in Carroll of an apparent heart condition. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 27, 2009, at St. Joseph Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Father Anthony Pick assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Lectors will be Chris Fasbender and Kay Gradoville. Gift Bearers will be Gabriel Kennard, Laura Kennard, and Olivia Klocke. Mass Servers will be William Klocke, Abby Tunning, and Justin Tunning. Music will be provided by Mrs. Klocke’s grandchildren and St. Joseph Choir. Eucharistic Ministers will be Mary Fasbender and Mark Schreck. The Dedham American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Casket Bearers will be Scott Tunning, Ben Klocke, Spencer Hinners, Steve Klocke, Ryan Voss, John Klocke, Mike Klocke, and Shawn Fasbender. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Sunday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Sunday by St. Joseph Parish. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church for the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation or Carroll Relay for Life. Mrs. Klocke was born on April 23, 1922, at Dedham, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Stangl) Schwaller. She spent most of her lifetime in the Dedham community and attended St. Joseph School. Following her formal education she worked at Schmidt’s Café in Carroll and Schreck’s Store in Dedham. On November 27, 1940, she was married to Ben G. Klocke at St. Joseph Church in Dedham with Father Norbert Boes officiating. The couple farmed south of Dedham until 1986 when they moved to their home in Carroll. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph Ladies Guild, R.S.V.P., several card clubs, the Dedham American Legion Auxiliary, and was a New Hope Village Volunteer. Mrs. Klocke enjoyed her family, embroidery, playing cards, cooking, baking, and quilting. She donated many of her quilts to charitable organizations. Survivors include her children, Linda Tunning and her husband Clarence of Carroll, George W. Klocke and his wife Donna of Templeton, Paul J. Klocke and his wife Nancy of Clearfield, Genevieve Voss and her husband Richard of Lake View, Mary Fasbender and her husband John of Omaha, Nebr., Floyd Klocke and his wife Lisa of Dedham, Karen Hinners and her husband Joe of Manning, Kathy Klocke-Kennard and her husband Perry of Lawrence, Kansas, and Brian Klocke and his wife Molly of Dedham; 32 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Caligiuri of Des Moines and Mary Mateer and her husband Norman of Des Moines; and a sister-in-law, Frances Stangl of Carmen, Manitoba, Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben G. Klocke, in March 1994; two sons, Benjamin J. Klocke and John Klocke; a grandson, Jeffrey Hinners; daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Klocke; a brother, Philip Thein; and sisters, Irene Trecker, Rose Schreck, Estella Winnett, Grace Jennings, Genevieve Roderick, Louise Willenborg, and Margaret Parks.
