Josephine Golwitzer, 91 of Carroll, died Friday morning, December 12, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott, Holy Spirit Choir, with John Wagner as soloist. Lector for the funeral mass will be Frank Golwitzer. Gift Bearers will be granddaughters: Lisa Mason, Wendy Lindley, Holly Gregg, Lacey Pica, Mia Golwitzer, Laura Golwitzer, Heather Thomack, Dawn Dickerson Wade, and Maria Williams. Eucharistic Minister will be Barb Golwitzer. Casket Bearers will be grandsons: Eric Badding, Pete Badding, Michael Golwitzer, Paul Golwitzer, Andy Reiman, Beau Golwitzer, Francis Golwitzer, Patrick Golwitzer, and Chris Dickerson. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Monday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. by Holy Spirit Parish.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on April 6, 1923 at Torre Della Greco, Italy, Josephine Ursela was the daughter of Luigi and Clementine (Luisi) Revelini. She spent her childhood and her younger years in Torre Della Grecco. During World War II while he was stationed in Italy she met Fred Golwitzer and the couple were married on January 28, 1945 in Italy. Upon his honorable discharge Fred returned to the United States and in 1946 Josie came to the states via the U.S. Army Hospital Ship “Algonquin.”
The couple made their home near Dedham where Josie was a devoted homemaker. Josie and Fred later resided in other communities in Carroll County before moving to Carroll. In 1982 she received United States Citizenship; a moment in her life that brought her great pride.
Josie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Dedham American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children: Ernie (Linda) Golwitzer of Huntsville, AL, Frank (Jeanie) Golwitzer of St. Louis, MO, Mary Ann Darwin of Carroll, Noreen Dickerson of Pueblo, CO, Surge Badding of Carroll, Linda (Jerry) Reiman of Carroll, and Rich (Barb) Golwitzer of Omaha, NE; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her in-laws: Leona Drees of Carroll, Alvina Rotert of Storm Lake, Clarence (Mary Ann) Golwitzer of Wesley, Regina Vogt of Rochester, MN, and Theresa Golwitzer of Algona; as well as many extended relatives in Italy.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred in 1981; her son in infancy who died in Italy, Ernesto Golwitzer; her sons-in-law: Derrill Dickerson and Joe Badding; and two granddaughters: Samantha Rose Badding and Heidi Reiman.
