Jon Muenchow, 78 of Arcadia, died early Monday morning, November 17, 2014, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia. The Celebrant will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Music for the mass will be by Darlene Leiting and the St. John Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Jerome Henkenius. Casket Bearers will be: Paul Schrad, Art Bruch, Michael Boell, John Hinrichsen, Kenneth Boell Jr., Curtis Boell, Duane Boell, and Dean Boell. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Arcadia with military honors conducted by the Arcadia American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.

Jon Richard was born on November 16, 1936 at Carroll, Iowa the son of John and Georga (Ford) Muenchow. Jon attended Arcadia High School and graduated in 1954.
Following his schooling Jon joined the family business, Muenchow Welding where he was a certified welder, owning and operating the business until his retirement in 2011. While in the family business, Jon was also in the Army Reserves from 1957 until 1963.
Jon married Ella Mae Boell on May 1, 1965 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll and the couple made their home in Arcadia. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed photography, cooking, trains, and World War II Warcraft and history.
Jon was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party, St. John Parish, and the Arcadia American Legion.
Jon is survived by his wife Ella Mae of Arcadia; his daughter, Paula Muenchow of Nevada; his sister Josephine Muenchow of Kearney, MO; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard Boell of Denison, Kenneth (Cherryl) Boell of Manilla, and Ruth Boell of Manilla; as well as several nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents.
