Jeremy Bauer, age 25 of Vermillion, South Dakota and formerly of Lake City, Iowa, died Friday, October 14, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City. The Celebrant will be Fr. Lynn Bruch. Lector for the funeral mass will be Peggy Scanlon. Gift Bearers will be Jeremy’s cousins: Kellie Westercamp and Kristin Kerkhoff. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Gary and LuAnn Reicks, and LuAnn Redenius. Casket Bearers will be Jeremy’s cousins: Doug Seidl, Kevin Seidl, Chad Seidl, Brad Seidl, Chad Kerkhoff, Cole Kerkhoff, and Brandon Kerkhoff. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake City.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church in Lake City where there will be a Christian Wake Service by the parish at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church at 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of the funeral mass.

Jeremy R. Bauer was born on February 3, 1986 at Lake City, Iowa the son of Jim and Judy (Kerkhoff) Bauer. He grew up in Lake City and attended Southern Cal Schools, graduating with the Class of 2004. While in high school, Jeremy was active in band, track, and was also a member of the Carroll Swim Team. Following high school he attended Morningside College in Sioux City where he graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Jeremy assisted with the Fine Arts department while at Morningside. Most recently he was attending Graduate School at the University of South Dakota where he was pursuing a degree in Counseling and Psychology. While attending college Jeremy worked at the Olive Garden as a waiter and developed many friendships. Wherever Jeremy was he always had his computer with him and also enjoyed musicals and fine arts, and most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his parents: Jim and Judy Bauer of Lake City; his brother, Jason Bauer and his wife Jenah of Emmetsburg; his nephew, Justin Bauer, at home in Emmetsburg; his grandmother, Evelyn Kerkhoff of Carroll; his uncles and aunts: Stan (Kathy) Kerkhoff of Carroll, Dale (Joleen) Kerkhoff of Templeton, Marlin Bauer of Dedham, Lois (Ralph) Beyerink of Roselle, Kenny (Diane) Bauer of Arcadia, Diane (Dan) Seidl of Coon Rapids, Duane (Cindy) Bauer of Dedham, and Judy (Clarence) Ziegmann of Carroll, as well as many cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Herman and Alita Bauer, and Robert Kerkhoff; and his uncle, Dennis Bauer.
