Henry B. Snyder, age 91, of Carroll, Iowa, died early Friday, March 20, 2009, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 23, 2009, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Monday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Curt Snyder. Gift Bearers will be Ivan Tigges, Virgil Tigges, and Diane Tigges. Eucharistic Ministers will be Bob Tigges and Florence Oswald. Casket Bearers will be Ivan Tigges, Virgil Tigges, LaVern Tigges, Robert Tigges, Robert Snyder, and Melvin Snyder. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 P.M. Sunday. A Christian wake service will be held at 6 P.M. Sunday by Holy Spirit Parish. Mr. Snyder was born on December 30, 1917, at Maple River, Iowa, the son of Henry J. and Anna (Hermsen) Snyder. He spent his younger years in the Maple River and Mt. Carmel communities and attended St. Francis School in Maple River. On September 21, 1943, he was married to Evelyn Catherine Naber at Saint Peter and Paul Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll. Mr. Snyder had been employed for many years as a punch press operator at the Heider Manufacturing Company in Carroll and when the Heider plant closed Henry decided to retire. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Henry enjoyed going to the Adoration Chapel, fishing, and boating. Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Agatha Stouten of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Ivan Tigges and his wife Charlotte of Carroll, LaVern Tigges and his wife Patricia of Berryville, Arkansas, Virgil Tigges and his wife Diane of Carroll, Robert Tigges and his wife Aggie of Glidden, Zita Kotz and her husband John of Denison, LaVonne Brogan and her husband Joe of Sergeant Bluff, Georgia Hickey and her husband Tom of Vail, Al Snyder and his wife Charlene of Omaha, Nebr., Melvin Snyder and his wife Bernie of Clear Lake, Robert Snyder of Carroll, Lorraine Boell and her husband Virgil of Carroll, and Ron Bruning and his wife Marvel of Denison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Catherine Snyder, in January 1997; brothers, Lawrence, Julius, and Norbert Snyder; and sisters, Irene Tigges and Isabelle Lohman.
