Helen Halbur, age 96, of Carroll, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Tammy Hulsing. Gift Bearers and Casket Bearers will be Helen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll where a rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Friday morning where additional visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m.

Helen Elizabeth Halbur was born on October 8, 1921 in Arcadia, Iowa the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Leiting) Sanders. She grew up on a farm near Maple River and graduated from St. Francis School. Helen married Lawrence Halbur on June 12, 1945 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Maple River.
Helen was a homemaker all of her working life. She dedicated her time to caring for her parents and worked for a number of individuals and families in the Halbur and Carroll communities. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, attending daily mass and praying the rosary. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and Altar Society.
Survivors include her children: Gary (Jolene) Halbur of Roselle, and Janice Hulsing and friend Val Buchanan of Roselle; her grandchildren: Michele (Brad) Pudenz, Doug Halbur and friend Melony Johnson, Kevin (Kris) Hulsing, Brian (Tammy) Hulsing, and Cory (Mary) Hulsing; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; her sister, Ethel Lilly of Fonda; her brothers: Richard Sanders and friend Sherline of Anaheim, CA and Kenny (Janet) Sanders of Carroll; her sister-in-law, Pat Sanders of Carroll and her brother-in-law, Louis Halbur of Halbur; as well as other extended relatives.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lawrence Halbur in 1951; her son-in-law, Robert Hulsing; her great-grandson, Kyle Pudenz; her sisters: Isabel Henrich, Doris Salisbury, Agnes Halbur, and Elsie Boes; and her brother, Robert Sanders.
