Born on May 18, 1930, Harry John Klocke was the son of Edward and Margaret (Pletchette) Klocke. He attended St. Joseph School in Dedham, Iowa. On October 16, 1951 he married Lorraine Hoffman. They had six children: Marikay, Mark, Kevin, Eddie, Kris, and Jenna. Harry’s life was dedicated to farming. In 1953 he moved to his father’s family farm. In 1982, Harry and Lorraine built a home just a short distance from the home place where he resided until his death. After retiring in 1992, he continued to help his sons with the farm operation. Harry’s love of the land was only rivaled by his love for his dear wife Lorraine, his family and his friends. He enjoyed watching his children’s and his grandchildren’s activities. He relished getting to know the “new additions” to the family, whether they were spouses of the grandchildren or whether they were new great-grandchildren. He loved attending Kuemper High School events from music to sports to drama. As a young man, Harry enjoyed hunting and trapping. Baseball and slow pitch were also favorite pastimes. He didn’t get to see his “Cubbies” win the World Series, but always remained a loyal fan. Harry played and managed slow pitch for the Dedham Southsiders. He recently enjoyed the 16-inch Alumni Reunion in Willey and was honored, along with his son Eddie, and grandson Adam, for being part of three generations of slow pitch players. Socializing over coffee at the “Corner Station” and in Manning were part of his daily routine. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, and sharing his produce with family and friends. Harry was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Dedham.
