George W. Klocke, age 74, of rural Dedham, died Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music will be by Jane Heithoff, Kay Gradoville, Julie Williams, and Lisa Fangman. Lectors will be Chris Fasbender, John Fasbender, Amelia Klocke. Honorary Casket Bearers will be George’s Grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be John Klocke, Will Klocke, Nolan Schultes, Ben Klocke, Mike Klocke, and Chris Fasbender. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham, with military honors conducted by the Dedham American Legion.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Additional visitation without greeting the family will be held from 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church in Dedham. Those in attendance are required to wear a face covering.

George, the son of Ben G. and Laura (Schwaller) Klocke was born on October 2, 1946 at Dedham, Iowa. He grew up near Dedham and attended St. Joseph’s School in Dedham. After the illness of his father, George began farming with his father after completing the eight grade. He continued to farm until he was inducted into the United States Marine Corps. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Dedham and continued farming.
On June 7, 1974 George was united in marriage to Donna Schultes at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham, the couple made their home west of Dedham, and George continued his grain, hay, and livestock operations. George stayed very busy doing lots of side jobs including driving school bus, custom baling, corn shelling, Pella Corporation, Bomgaars, and helped his brothers and son’s farm.
George enjoyed fishing at his and Donna’s pond; mowing the pond, singing karaoke, playing cards, especially Poker; and visiting at the Corner Station to catch up on all the knowledge in the area. Most of all George cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. George was also active in the Dedham American Legion, and American Legion Baseball, serving as the commissioner of Iowa. George was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dedham.
George is survived by his wife Donna (Schultes) Klocke of rural Dedham; sons: Steve F. Klocke of Templeton, and Matt W. (Ashley) Klocke of Manning; grandchildren: Parker, Addison, Briella, Owen, Caden, Hailey, Amelia, Mason, Rhett, and Easton. Also surviving are George’s siblings: Linda Tunning; Paul Klocke, Genevieve (Richard) Voss, Mary (John) Fasbender, Floyd (Lisa) Klocke, Karen (Joe) Hinners, Kathy (Perry) Klocke Kennard, Brian (Molly) Klocke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: David (Bobra) Schultes, Deanne (John) Arrowsmith, Jeanne (Jerry) Schrad, Mark (Chris) Schultes, Brenda Bengard, and Billy (Lisa) Schultes; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Benjamin Jr. and John Klocke; sister-in-law: Mary Klocke; brother-in-law: Clarence Tunning; and his parents-in-law: William and Rose Schultes.
