Geneva Boyce, age 89, of Carroll, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, October 6, 2009, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 12, 2009, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lector will be a granddaughter, Lynn Forbush. Gift Bearers will be great grandchildren, Molly Boell, Andrew Boell, Breanna Lane, and Brittany McNamara. Eucharistic Ministers will be Linda and Sal Lahey and Alex Boyce. Casket Bearers will be grandchildren, Charles McNamara, Loren Boyce, Brian Hoffman, Karen Boell, Beth Ann Lane, Amy Hoffman, Emily Hoffman, Mark McNamara, and Wayne Barrett. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 P.M. Sunday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Sunday by St. Lawrence Parish. Mrs. Boyce was born on January 11, 1920, at Dedham, Iowa, the daughter of John H. and Anna (Tigges) Werner, Sr. She attended St. Joseph School at Dedham, Sacred Heart School at Templeton, and St. Angela Academy in Carroll. On June 3, 1940, she was married to Lawrence B. Boyce at St. Joseph Church in Dedham. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce operated several businesses in Carroll and in 1953 took over the operation of Boyce Monumental Sales from Mr. Boyce’s father John Boyce. Boyce Monumental Sales remains a family operation located on Highway 71 in Carroll. Mrs. Boyce was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Parish Ladies Guild. Geneva enjoyed her family, crafts, and working with the family business. Survivors include her son, Larry Boyce and his wife Kay of Carroll; daughters, Linda Lahey and her husband Sal of Orlando, Florida, Louise Barrett of Yuma, Arizona; and Lois Boyce of Springfield, Illinois; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; her sisters, Alvina Wendl of LeMars and Annabelle Snyder and her husband Paul of Carroll; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Dardy Werner of Dedham, Jack Longnecker of Carroll, Web Lappe of Des Moines, and Ethel and Lawrence Lampe of Carroll. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Boyce, in September 1989; her parents; two sons-in-law, Alan McNamara and Wayne Barrett; brothers, Wilbur Werner and John Werner, Jr.; and sisters, Mary Ann Longnecker, Dorothy Lappe, and Anna Rae Werner, in infancy.
