Floyd White Jr., age 80 of Carroll, died early Tuesday morning, September 18, 2012 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Mass servers will be Sarah and Mark Steffen. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Jack Thein. Gift Bearers will be Floyd’s grandchildren. Eucharistic Ministers will be Jean Knobbe and Scott and Kathy Steffen. Casket Bearers will be: Jim White, Jack White, Dewey Vonnahme, Jordan White, Tyler White, and Brian Lawler. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Thursday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. by St. Lawrence Parish. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at noon on Friday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on July 19, 1932 at Carroll, Iowa, Floyd was the son of Floyd Sr. and Frances (Hickey) White. He attended Manning Public Schools and then worked for his father for a brief time. Floyd then ran the Phillips 66 Station in Carroll until 1955 when he served in the United States Navy. On February 20, 1961 he married Donna Mae Subbert at Carroll, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll where Floyd worked for B-Line Trucking and the Crouse Cartage Company. He then became an independent trucker and hauled grain and steel before working for Carroll Community Schools as their transportation director until his retirement. Floyd enjoyed country music, playing guitar, cars, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Carroll American Legion, and St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll.
Survivors include his daughter, Joni Vonnahme and her husband Dewey of Carroll; his sons: Jim F. White and wife Joelle of Carroll, and Jack White and his wife Janelle of St. Joseph, MI; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Chuck White of Auburn, and Doc White of Carroll; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Arlene (Glen) Kusel of Manning, Jeanette (Don) Lerssen of Manning, Dorothy Subbert of Denison, and Phyllis Subbert of Glidden; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Sr. and Frances White; his wife Donna Mae in April of 2010; and his parents-in-law, Chris and Marie Sophia Subbert.
