Doris Broich, 81 of Carroll, died Thursday evening, March 30, 2017 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and Michele Phillips. Mass servers will be Zak Hulsing and Austin Hulsing. Lector for the funeral mass will be Brandon Broich. Gift Bearers will be: Abby Olberding, Erin Olberding, and Ethan Olberding. Eucharistic Minister will be Peg Scheidt. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Allison Olberding, Kelly Lawson, Beth Collins, Samantha Kirk, Elaina Broich, Emily Broich, Hayley Broich, and Natalie Broich. Casket Bearers will be: Ben Broich, Brandon Broich, Dave Olberding, Alex Olberding, Chris Broich, Matt Olberding, Jacob Broich and Joe Broich. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 3:30 p.m. followed by a Christian Wake Service at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Monday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. and will continue until time of the funeral mass.

Born on April 30, 1935 at Spirit Lake, Iowa, Doris was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Eilers) Goecke. She attended St. Francis School in Maple River and later graduated in 1953 from Carroll High School. On June 25, 1955, Doris was united in marriage to Jerome Broich at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Arthur Poeckes officiating. The couple made their home in Carroll for a brief time before moving to Roselle. While in Roselle, Jerry and Doris owned and operated Broich Grocery Store, and also worked at Cal-Car Farm Service from 1974-1996. In 1996, they moved back to the Carroll community where Doris was employed in the dietary department at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll.
Doris enjoyed reading, her card clubs, and trips to the casino. She loved hosting family gatherings and cooking for her family. Doris was a former member of Holy Angels Church in Roselle and was currently a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll.
Survivors include her children: Deb (David) Gostele of Ames, Rick (Lucy) Broich of Roselle, Doug (Barb) Broich of Coon Rapids, Ron (Eileen) Broich of Albuquerque, NM, and Joe (Sharon) Broich of Burnsville, MN; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Gute of Eugene, OR; one brother, Floyd (Janie) Goecke of Omaha; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Norma Goecke of Carroll, Robert Broich of Carroll, Clayton (Bernita) Broich of Carroll, Delores (Vern) Langel of Omaha, Marilyn Snyder of Breda, Joleen (Ron) Klocke of Carroll, John (Mary Jo) Broich of Carroll, Laurel Jean (Denis) Heithoff of Carroll and Yvonne Broich of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerome in 2012; her sister, Bonnie Lynam; her brothers: Jerry Goecke and Melvin Goecke; and a brother in infancy.
