Donna Snyder, 86, of Carroll, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir with Sherry Loughran as cantor. Lectors will be Donna’s grandsons, Dan Hotaling and Bret Snyder. Gift Bearers will be Donna’s grandchildren: Lauren Snyder, Joey Snyder, and Kennedy Brown. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Iola Hoogestraat, Ann Christiansen, and Donna’s daughter-in-law, Nikki Snyder. Casket Bearers will be Donna’s grandchildren: Brea Burrack, Benet Snyder, Kara Nees-Garner, Trish Nees, Jen Erickson, Tim Hotaling, Tasha Minnehan, Tacie Clark, Taylor Brown, Alec Brown, Conor Snyder, and Eric Snyder. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Monday, where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday, where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on March 22, 1928 at Carroll, Iowa, Donna was the daughter of William and Sophie (Schmitz) Schenkelberg. A lifelong resident of the Carroll community, Donna attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School and later graduated from St. Angela’s Academy.
On June 14, 1952, Donna was united in marriage to Alfred Snyder at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Carroll where Donna was a devoted homemaker and mother raising their six children. Donna was a gifted baker and always enjoyed sharing her baked goods with her family and many friends.
Whether bowling, playing bridge, or golfing, Donna had a competitive spirit and achieved many successes in numerous golf tournaments. She was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and a member of “The Coffee Ladies.” Donna also enjoyed spending time with her entire family and hosting many family gatherings.
Donna was active in the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of St. Lawrence Parish where she was active in the ladies guild and the parish choir over the years.
Donna is survived by: her children: Terry Snyder and his wife Mary of Carroll, Rosanne Nees and her husband Tom of Carroll, Gina Hotaling and her husband Mike of LaVista, NE, Renee Brown and her husband Dave of Shawnee, KS, and Steve Snyder and his wife Nikki of Urbandale; her daughter-in-law, Christy Snyder of Carroll; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her brothers: Bill (Jean) Schenkelberg of Carroll, Marvin Schenkelberg of Carroll and Larry Schenkelberg of Carroll; her sisters-in-law, Annabelle Snyder of Carroll, Kathleen Snyder of Minneapolis, MN, Gloria Schenkelberg of Carroll, and Virginia Schenkelberg of LeMars; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred in 2003; her son, Michael P. Snyder in 2009; her brothers, Alfred Schenkelberg and Paul Schenkelberg; and a sister in infancy, Mary Schenkelberg.
