Donna Thompson, age 71, of Carroll, Iowa, died Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Officiating will be the Reverend Jessica Rockhold Gaul, Associate Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Carroll City Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 9 A.M. Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home and last until the time of the services.
Donna was born on May 7, 1939, at Jefferson, Iowa, the daughter of Bill and Thella (Madden) Kunecke. Her family moved to Carroll in 1940 and Donna attended the Carroll Community Schools. On August 7, 1962, she was married to Gary Twogood in Lincoln, Nebraska. Being a military family they lived in various locations around the country. On May 1, 1977, she was married to Thomas Thompson in San Antonio, Texas. Donna returned to Carroll in 1988. She lived for a few years near her daughter in Waverly, Iowa, where she was employed at the Bartles and James Nursing Home. She returned to Carroll and was employed in the homemaking department at Regency Park Nursing Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Donna enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, and grilling shish kabobs and bratwurst.
Survivors include her son, Richard Twogood and wife Janda of Lithia, Florida; her daughters, Renee Irlmeier and husband Keith of Greene, and Rhonda Himschoot of Clarksville; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother, Gary Kunecke and wife Karen of West Des Moines; and a sister, Vivian Swingen of Salix. She was preceded in death by her parents.
