Born on August 2, 1929 in Arcadia, Iowa, Robert Edward was the son of William and Rose (Schroeder) Badding. Bob spent his younger years in the Arcadia area and attended St. John School. Following his schooling he assisted with building the Arcadia Legion Hall and also worked for Diers Construction. Bob served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict where he was placed in an engineering battalion.
On October 13, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Joan Dentlinger at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple lived in Arcadia for a brief time before making their home in the Carroll community.

Over the years, Bob transitioned from residential to commercial construction, to today’s Badding Construction Company. Bob always attributed the company’s success to the hard work and dedication of all employees, past and present. In 2014, Badding Construction celebrated 60 years in business.
Bob generously served on numerous boards, including: New Hope Village, Quakerdale, Carroll Chamber of Commerce, Carroll Area Development Corp, Carroll Country Club, Holy Spirit Parish, and Carroll Elks Club. Bob was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Carroll Knights of Columbus.
In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and socializing with his many friends.
