Art Willenborg, 82, of Dedham, died Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Fr. Andrew Hoffmann assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music will be by Cindy Bauer and the St. Joseph’s Choir. Lector will be Sarah Flaherty. Gift Bearers will be Jackie Willenborg, Jamie Willenborg, Kristina Riesselman, and Amber Willenborg. Eucharistic Ministers will be Joe and Connie Ankenbauer. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Sarah Flaherty, Kristina Riesselman, Jackie Willenborg, Jamie Willenborg, Amber Willenborg, Alyssa Willenborg, Laura Luetje, Stacie Riesselman, Kristy Willenborg, and Brian Flaherty. Casket Bearers will be Chad Riesselman, Kurt Riesselman, Matt Willenborg, Nick Willenborg, Tom Willenborg, and Adam Luetje. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary prayed at 5 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.

Born on August 14, 1933 near Templeton, Iowa, Arthur C. was the son of Leonard and Crecentia (Becker) Willenborg. He grew up near the Templeton community and attended school at Sacred Heart School in Templeton. After his education Art worked at Ocoma Foods, until it’s closing, it was there that he met his wife Shirley Armstrong, and they were married on May 25, 1955 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home on a farm near Templeton until they moved to the Dedham community in 1961. Art worked for Crouse Cartage until his retirement, as well as raised cattle.
Art enjoyed restoring antique tractors, and riding in area tractor rides. He is credited with organizing the Dedham Tractor Ride. Most of all Art enjoyed spending time with his family. Art was an Honorary Chapter F.F.A. Degree, an award he was nominated for by his grandson, he also was proud member of the Teamsters, The Old Iron Tractor Club, and St. Joseph’s Parish in Dedham.
Left to celebrate Art’s life are his children: Cindy (Allan) Riesselman of Dedham, Dale (Lori) Willenborg of Dedham, Peggy (Kevin) Dentlinger of Guthrie Center, Allen Willenborg and special friend Linda Jenkins of Dedham, and Ron (Diane) Willenborg of Carroll; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Jean Knobbe of Guthrie Center, and Lois Adolf of Burlington, CO; his brother and sisters-in-law: Joyce (Norman) Tapps of Carroll, Lee (Kathy) Armstrong of Pewaukee, WI, and Mavis (Eddie) Junkman of Rockwell City; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley on April 14, 2010; his siblings: Donald Willenborg in infancy, and Norma Knobbe.
