Virgil J. Schroeder, age 88, of Springfield, Missouri, and formerly of Carroll, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. Virgil was an army veteran of World War II, a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Carroll American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Ruth of Springfield, MO; six sons, Terry and wife Debra of Maple Grove, MN, Doug and wife Mary of Omaha, NE, Randy of Springfield, MO, Mark and wife Sylvia of Buda, TX, Craig and wife Judy of Springfield, MO, and David and Ellen of New York, NY; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Friday, October 21, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield, MO. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Graveside Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion. Father Timothy Johnson, Pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate at the graveside services. Memorials may be left at the funeral home for New Hope Village.
