Vernon Irlbeck, 80, of Templeton, died Sunday, November 8, 2015, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. The Celebrant will be Fr. Steven Brodersen. Mass servers will be: Alexis and Regan Gerken. Music will be by Jeanne Kerkhoff and the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir. Prelude music will be by Emily Carlson. Lectors for the funeral mass will be: Ann Meiners, Amy Hanken, Jill Schoeppner, and Sara Erickson. Gift Bearers will be: Dave, Gail, Abbey, Tyler, and Makayla Bueltel. Eucharistic Minister will be Mary Schoeppner. Casket Bearers will be Vernon’s grandchildren. The Templeton Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary prior to mass at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Sacred Heart Church at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on September 4, 1935, Vernon was the son of William “Speed” and Henrietta (Brincks) Irlbeck. He attended school through the 8th grade and then assisted his father farming and raised seed corn under the name Irlbeck Hybrid Seed Company.
On November 29, 1969 Vernon married Leonette (Ocken) Schoeppner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. The couple made their home near Templeton where Vernon continued to be active with the seed company, farming, corn shelling, and also did bulldozer work until his retirement. In retirement Vernon and Leonette moved into the Templeton Community. He enjoyed woodworking, welding, and just tinkering in the garage. Vernon also enjoyed golf cart trips to Sonny’s garage and socializing with his many friends and family.
Vernon was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton, and the Templeton Knights of Columbus where he served as past treasurer.
Vernon is survived by his children: Tom (Mary) Schoeppner of Templeton, Pat (John) Snyder of Templeton, Joan (Dale) Reiling of Carroll, Carol (Jim) Segebart of Denison, Gary Schoeppner and friend Suzanne Semke of Templeton, Dale (Peggy) Schoeppner of Hastings, MN, and Dave (Meg) Schoeppner of Templeton; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Alice (Wayne) Rupiper of Roselle, Janice (Harlan) Wolterman of Bellevue, NE, Ronald (friend Joan) of Omaha, NE, Bob (Lynn) Ocken of Cedar Rapids, and Merle (Nancy) Ocken of DeWitt and Keith Irlbeck of Prior Lake, MN; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Leonette in December of 2014; his son Jason Irlbeck; Leonette’s daughter, Mary Schoeppner; his daughter-in-law, Sheila Schoeppner; his granddaughter, April Schoeppner; and his great-granddaughter, Meredith Meiners.
