Vernis Bueltel, age 93, of Carroll, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March, 9, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Con Celebrant and homilist will be Fr. Richard Remmes. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lectors will be Vernis’s nephews John Bueltel, and Al Bueltel. Eucharistic Ministers will be Lynn Wittrock, and Jolene Kasperbauer. Casket Bearers will be John Bueltel, Al Bueltel, Paul Schrad, Dale Schweers, Zach Collison, Ron Kerwood, and Leo Kasperbauer. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Cemetery in Arcadia.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll, and continue until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on March 2, 1922 on a farm near Arcadia, Iowa, Vernis was the son of John and Kathryn (Weber) Bueltel. He grew up near the Arcadia community, and attended school at St. John’s School in Arcadia. After his schooling, Vernis began farming, and farmed his entire life until his retirement when he moved to the Carroll community. He enjoyed fishing, golf, gardening, and softball where he played pitcher for the Arcadia traveling team. Vernis was a former member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia, and a current member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.
Left to celebrate his life is his brother: Clarence J. Bueltel and his wife Mary Jo of Omaha, NE, nephews: John Bueltel and his wife Jenni of Atlanta, GA, and Al Bueltel of Boulder, CO; his great-nieces and great nephew: Megan Bueltel, Emma Bueltel, and Eric J. Bueltel; a cousin: Mary Theresa Hoffmann of Arcadia; as well as many other cousins, and extended relatives.
Vernis was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law Irene Bueltel.
