Teresa Koster

Teresa Koster, 93 of Wymore, Nebraska, and formerly of Breda, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center in Wymore. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Joe Dillinger. Con-Celebrant will be Fr. Dale Koster. Lector for the funeral mass will be Pat Koster. Gift Bearers will be Teresa’s Granddaughters, Amy Sorensen, Christina Bruenelle and Amanda Gibson. Eucharistic Ministers will be Mike Braun and Urban Koster. The Breda American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 6 p.m., Thursday where there will be a prayer service by the parish at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for St. Bernard’s Parish. Teresa was born on October 24, 1918 at Waialua, Hawaii, the daughter of Jose and Isabel (Garcia) Gil. At the age of five she moved with her family to Santa Clara, California where she attended school. On December 1, 1945 she married Floyd Koster following his discharge from the United States Army. Floyd and Teresa then moved to Ames while Floyd attended Iowa State University. Following his graduation they moved to Washington, Iowa and then to Alton, Iowa until Floyd’s retirement. While in Alton, she raised five children, and also worked at Kahout Cap Factory. After retirement Floyd and Teresa moved to Breda and also spent part of each year in Las Vegas and traveled the country to visit their children. At the age of 90 she and Floyd moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Wymore, Nebraska to be near their daughter Carol and their grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, visiting her children, playing Keno, and flower gardening. She especially enjoyed the many winters they spent in Las Vegas, and they always remembered their 50th Wedding Anniversary party at Las Vegas with the many family members who came to share it with them. Teresa was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and throughout her lifetime was a member at St. Mary’s Church in Alton, St. Bernard’s Church in Breda, and most recently a member of St. Mary’s Church in Wymore. Survivors include her husband, Floyd of Wymore, NE; her son, Bruce Koster of Leawood, KS; her daughters: Carol Braun and her husband Michael of Wymore, NE, Donna McBride and her husband Tim of Fruitland, ID, Diana Schneck and her husband Keith of Las Vegas, NV, and Linda Grivet and her husband Jim of Diamondville, WY; her grandchildren, Chris Braun and wife Sherry of Oak Harbor, WA, Rob Braun and wife Deb of Omaha, Amy Sorensen and husband Dan of Sioux Falls, SD, Bret McBride of Boise, ID, Brian McBride and wife Laree of Fruitland, ID, Scott McBride of Boise, ID, Amanda Gibson and husband Jeff of Prairie Village, KS, Matt Koster of Leawood, KS, and Christina Bruenelle and husband Eric of Las Vegas, NV; by great grandchildren, Michael Braun, Grant, Claire and AJ Braun; Kaylee McBride, Mika and Preston McBride; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edgar Koster of Auburn, Rev. Dale Koster of Auburn, Jerome Koster of Breda, Urban (Pat) Koster of Breda, Bill Garcia of Sacramento, CA, Otmar Bierl of Arcadia, Alma (Ivan) Schroeder of Elma, Anita (Duane) Hannasch of Carroll, Myrna (Van) Schmidt of Three Forks, MT, Norma Jean Ludwig of Vail, and Alice Thielen of Carroll as well as many nieces, and nephews. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, by sisters Josephine Garcia, Mary Martin, Isabel Garcia, and Antonia Garcia; by brothers Bert Gil, Frank Gil, Mike Garcia, and Joe Garcia; and by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
