Susan Bayer, age 95, of Carroll, Iowa, formerly of the Willey area, died Sunday morning, November 28, 2010, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Mary Church in Willey. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Con-Celebrant and Homilist will be Father Timothy Friedrichsen. Mass Servers will be Bret and Stephanie Schultes. Lector will be Daryl Klocke. Gift Bearers will be Dale and Shellie Moeller. Casket Bearers will be Charles Bayer, Dale Moeller, Matt Gehling, Dennis Gehling, Clifford Hoffman, and Larry Williams. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Willey.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m., Wednesday where there will be a rosary prayed at 4 p.m., followed by a Christian Wake Service by the parish at 6 p.m.
Susan Bayer was born on August 2, 1915 at Carroll, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Frances (Zitzlsperger) Bayer. She grew up near Willey and attended St. Mary School and then attended St Angela Academy in Carroll. Ms. Bayer spent most of her life on the family farm seven miles south of Carroll until moving to Orchard View in Carroll in 1997. Susan enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, and following the Iowa Hawkeyes sports teams, especially football and basketball. Ms. Bayer was a member of St. Mary Parish in Willey.
Survivors include many cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Alfred Bayer and Philip Bayer; and three sisters: Edith Bayer, Loretta Bayer, and Clara Bayer in infancy.
