Rosina Wiederin, 95 of Carroll, died early Wednesday morning, February 8, 2012 at her home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lectors will be Rosina’s granddaughters: Sue Hagedorn, Melissa Rehovsky, and Pam Greer. Gift Bearers will be Rosina’s granddaughters: Deb Diver, Jodi Bayliss, Susan Pauly, and Stacy Eischeid. Eucharistic Ministers will be Rosina’s daughter, Eileen Lenz and her husband Maury and Cheryl Stork. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Rosina’s granddaughters: Chris Daley, Laura Lenz, Angela Haugen, and Emily Lenz–Seiser. Casket Bearers will be Rosina’s grandchildren: Mike Wiederin, Doug Wiederin, Steve Wiederin, Tom Wiederin, David Wiederin, Ross Wiederin, Jude Goetzinger, and Nick Goetzinger. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas and the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Friday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas and a Christian Wake Service by St. Lawrence Parish at 6 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 8:30 a.m. Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on April 25, 1916 at Maple River, Iowa, Rosina was the daughter of John and Anna (Niehaus) Staiert. She spent her younger years in the Maple River area and attended school through the 8th grade. On September 13, 1937 she married Carl Wiederin at St. Francis Church in Maple River. Carl and Rosina farmed southeast of Mt. Carmel and Rosina took great interest in her husband’s Black Angus Cattle Business. In 1980 they retired and moved to Carroll. Rosina was active in the Mt. Carmel Adult Choir, St. Lawrence Funeral Choir, Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas, and the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed flowers, baking, crocheting doilies and afghans, and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas, and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children: Dennis Wiederin and his wife Darlene of Carroll, Eugene Wiederin and his wife Marcia of Carroll, Eileen Lenz and her husband Maury of Decorah, Mark Wiederin and his wife Cynthia of Clive, Joan Goetzinger and her husband Lanny of Sioux Falls, SD, and Pat Wiederin and his wife Lynne of Carroll; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Hilda Bruch of Carroll and Ethel (Ray) Reiff of Carroll; two brothers: Elmer (Antonette) Staiert of Sac City, and Leo (Alice) Staiert of Carroll; her sisters-in-law: Mae Staiert of Harlan, Alice Staiert of Carroll, Harriet Staiert of Arizona, and Marguerite (Ed) Reiling of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Rosina was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl in May 2004; her sisters: Loretta Reiff, Agnes Gehling, Marita Heieres, and Anita Bellinghausen; and four brothers: Henry, Walter, Edwin, and Paul Staiert.
