Rose Berger, age 82, of Mt. Carmel, Iowa, died Thursday evening, January 21, 2010, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Carmel. The Celebrant will be Father Joe Dillinger. Lector will be Marilyn Peters. Gift Bearers will be Helen Henn, Marge Hoffman, and Joe Berger. Mass Servers will be Jake Buelt and Shane Carlson. Eucharistic Ministers will be Michael Berger, Marvin Drey, and Joanie Buelt. The Breda American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard at the church. Casket Bearers will be Melvin Berger, Randy Henn, Dennis Drey, LuVern Hoffman, Linda Lehmann, and Kent Berger. Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Sunday by the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Altar Society. There will be a Christian wake service at 6 P.M. Sunday by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. Rose Berger was born on September 4, 1927, at Mt. Carmel, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Pauline (Eifler) Berger. She attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. Following her formal education Rose helped her parents at home and worked for several families in the Carroll area. From 1961 until her retirement in 1997 she was employed in the Central Services Department at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Parish Altar Society, Parish Choir, Breda American Legion Auxiliary, card clubs, and was a New Hope Village Store volunteer. Rose enjoyed visiting her family and friends and traveling. Survivors include her sisters, Helen Henn of Petersburg, Nebr., and Marge Hoffman and her husband Lambert of Graettinger; a brother, Joe Berger and his wife Jean of Webster City; sister-in-law, Rosella Berger of Carroll; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marian Drey and her husband Joe; brothers, Carl Berger, Othmar Berger and his wife Marita, August Berger, and Leonard Berger and his wife Nina; and by a brother-in-law, Harold Henn.
