Richard “Tom” Malone, 76 of Avoca, Iowa and formerly of Carroll, died Friday morning at Hospice with Heart Hospice House in Glenwood, Iowa.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.
Following services at the cemetery please join Tom’s family for refreshments and a Celebration of his Life from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Carroll American Legion.

Born on May 20, 1939 at Dow City, Iowa, Richard Thomas was the son of John and Myrtle (Baber) Malone. He spent his younger years and attended school in Tennant, Iowa. Following his schooling he enlisted in the United States Marines where he served until 1961. Tom then was employed in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
On January 10, 1975 he was united in marriage to Janis Elaine Lamaak at Carroll, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll where Tom was employed at Quandt Auto Salvage until his retirement. The past 3 years Tom moved to the Walnut and Avoca areas to be closer to family. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Dutler and friend Tim Dupuy of Avoca; his daughter-in-law, Margie Dutler of Knoxville; his special daughter, Tina Quist of Avoca; his grandchildren: Chad Dutler and his son Chase, Corey Dutler and his sons, Brandon and Hayden, Joe and Krista VanRoekel and their son Timmy, and Nick VanRoekel and Shelby Herink; his sister, Becky Mallum of Geneseo, IL; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lloyd Lamaak of Colorado, Jean Demey of Carroll, Peggy Lamaak of Sioux City; Jerry (Mary Ann) Murr of Corning, MO, and Ann Lamaak of Sioux City; his special friend, Louise Radcliffe; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Janis; his son Jeff Dutler; his sister, Juanita Majerous; and his in laws: Norman Lamaak, Ed Demey, Ken Lamaak, and Gus Majerous.
