Richard Mancini Jr of Denison, IA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday November 10, 2024 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA after a short battle with cancer.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-5pm, Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the Carroll Rec Center.

Rich was born on April 2, 1947 in New York City, New York to his parents Richard Sr. and Louise (Pizza) Mancini. He grew up in Queens Village, New York and graduated from Martin Van Buren high school in 1965. After high school Rich attended St. John’s University in Queens where he obtained his Master’s in Mathematics. After graduation he taught mathematics in Levittown Long Island for 8 years.
While in High School Rich met Mary Drennan and they were married on December 30, 1967. From this union four children were born. In 1977 the family moved from Long Island to Denison, IA where Rich worked at Farmland for 29 years. After retiring from Farmland Rich began substitute teaching at Carroll Community, Kuemper Catholic, and Denison Community Schools. Rich was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed teaching his love of the sport to the next generation as both the boys and girls high school soccer coach at Kuemper Catholic in Carroll from 2004 to 2016.
Rich’s other passions in life were spending time with his family, telling stories of his life in New York, collecting coins, sports memorabilia, movies, and doting on his dogs Max & Coco. Being a grandfather and great-grandfather was the highlight of Rich’s life, he was always making an effort to attend any event that they were involved in.
Rich is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary.
