Peggy Wilberding, 80 of Carroll, died unexpectedly, on Monday, January 11, 2016 at her residence in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Brian Feller. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector will be Peg Pudenz. Gift Bearers will be Amanda Derington and David Ekiss. Eucharistic Ministers will be Shirley Molitor, Lou Pottebaum, and Jean Knobbe. Casket Bearers will be David Ekiss, Gary Kropf, Mike Steinkamp, Pat Wiederin, Tony Niewohner, Tim Pudenz, and Greg Wust. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, and the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the mass.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary prayed at 3 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 a.m. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on February 14, 1935 at Carroll, Iowa, Margaret was the daughter of Barney and Ann (Clark) Waters. She grew up in the Carroll community and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy. Peggy then attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. On June 13, 1953 Peggy was united in marriage to Donald Wilberding at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Carroll.
The couple made their home near Breda, where they were involved in grain and livestock farming for a short time. In addition, Peggy was a devoted homemaker, raising her seven children. The couple then lived in various communities around the Midwest. In 1982 the couple moved to Lakewood, Colorado where she resided until 2005 when she retired to Carroll.
Peggy was a veracious reader, and she enjoyed singing. Peggy was known to volunteer to help anyone in need. Peggy was a member of St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas, R.S.V.P. Group, and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.
Left to celebrate Peggy’s life is her daughter Marcia (Mark) Verstraten of Littleton, Colorado; a son-in-law: David Whipple of Texas; her grandchildren: Amanda (Brandon) Derington of Littleton, Colorado, and David (Jamie) Ekiss of Gilbert Arizona; four great-grandchildren: Christopher and Juliette Derington, and Jaxson and Carter Ekiss; her sisters-in-laws, and brothers-in-law: Alice O’Brien of Carroll, Edward Wilberding of Nebraska, Art Reiff of Mt. Carmel, Merle Wilberding of Ohio, Myrna Niewohner of Nebraska, Shirley (Bill) Jennewein of South Dakota, and Larry (Diane) Wilberding of Florida.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, six children: Terry Wilberding, Toni Ekiss, Ted Wilberding, Scott Wilberding, Barbara Whipple, and Julie Wilberding, a son-in-law Kevin Ekiss; her sister Pat Jepperson, her sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Sal Reiff, Evelyn (Lonnie) Kropf, Bing O’Brien, Maureen Wilberding, and Joe Niewohner.
