Peggy Wiedemeier, age 90, of Carroll, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at her home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 27, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Pianist will be Marcy Anderson. Mass Servers will be Mollie Hurd and Maggie Hurd. Lectors for the funeral mass will be: Tom Wiedemeier, Jerry Wiedemeier and Pat Wiedemeier. Gift Bearers will be: John Shymanski, Jim Shymanski, and Delores Swatski. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Patricia Wiedemeier, Joan Shymanski and Shirley Molitor. Casket Bearers will be: Mark, Mike, Paul, Thomas, Jerry, Patrick, and James Wiedemeier. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a Christian Wake Service at 5:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Monday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. and will continue until time of the funeral mass.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for New Hope Village.

Margaret Mary “Peggy” Wiedemeier was born on July 30, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Leonard John and Margaret Agnes (Schneckenberger) Shymanski. She spent her younger years in Omaha and later graduated high school in St. Charles, Illinois. Peggy’s family returned to the Omaha area where she met Merle Wiedemeier while he was attending school at Creighton. Peggy and Merle were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Following their marriage they moved to the Carroll area where they farmed north of Mt. Carmel and in 1956 farmed northeast of Carroll until 1995 when they moved into the Carroll community. While her husband managed the grain and livestock operation, Peggy was a devoted housewife raising their 14 children. Peggy’s greatest joy was cheering on and encouraging her children and her grandchildren in their life. Peggy enjoyed sewing, cooking, various puzzles, reading, and playing bridge. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church and the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Survivors include her children: Chris Malloy of Ankeny, Mark (Deb) Wiedemeier of Carroll, Mike (Becky) Wiedemeier of Carroll, Maggie (Frank) O’Tool of Carroll, Jane (Larry) Waldo of Omaha, NE, Paul (Pat) Wiedemeier of Clive, Julie (Kim) Heiderscheit of Ankeny, Tom (Kaye) Wiedemeier of Council Bluffs, Jerry (Judy) Wiedemeier of Buffalo Center, Pat (Penny) Wiedemeier of Duncombe, Mary Clare Wiedemeier of Carroll, Theresa (Scott) Stangl of Ft. Calhoun, NE, James Wiedemeier of Nashville, TN and Nora Dirkx of Carroll; 75 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Delores Swatski of Thornton, Co, John (Dianne) Shymanski of Omaha; and Jim (Joan) Shymanski of Carroll; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Merle Wiedemeier in 2001.
