Patricia Sporrer, age 66, of Carroll, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at St. Anthony Regional hospital in Carroll surrounded by her children and loved ones.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Holy Spirit Church- St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder. Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Lector will be Larry Sporrer. Gift Bearers will be Angie Williams, Jaycie Hein, and Jamie Mathers. Casket Bearers will be Andy Thielen, Shawn Mathers, Travis Hein, Nick Meyer, Tim Sporrer, and Phil Sporrer. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church where additional visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Patricia, the daughter of Charles and Helen (Grossman) Thielen was born on September 5, 1957 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up on a farm outside of Willey, and graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School. In the spring of 1981, she was married to Kenneth Sporrer, to this union three children were born. After her formal education she was employed with General Electric in Carroll from 1975 to 1996. Patricia then worked for Pella in Carroll from 1996 until her retirement in 2018.
Patricia enjoyed spending her days reading all types of books and watching soap operas. You would often see her watching the birds and squirrels on her bird feeders. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Sophia and watching her grow. Her favorite way to spend her evenings was to watch Survivor, Big Brother, and the Amazing Race. She also enjoyed driving down to the farm to see how the crops looked every year. Any free time she had she used up by calling and visiting with her loved ones on the phone. Every Saturday without fail she would call all three of her children for the sole purpose of seeing if Iowa State and Iowa won their football games.
Patricia is survived by her children: Tony (Kasey) Sporrer of Glidden, and their daughter Sophia; Tyler Sporrer of Carroll, and Tessa Sporrer of Carroll; siblings: Carol (John) Mathers of Missouri, David (Kayla) Thielen of Glidden, Becky (Bill) Kotchian of Omaha, Peg (Ron) Meyer of Ankeny, her twin sister, Pam (Marlin) Hein of Glidden, and Jeff (Shalene) Thielen of West Des Moines.
Also surviving is her former spouse: Ken Sporrer of Templeton as well as his siblings and in laws: Sue Romey of Carroll; Larry Sporrer, Keith Sporrer, Dave Sporrer (Sylvia), Marty Sporrer, all of Templeton, Randy (Vanda) Sporrer of Las Vegas, Eileen Sporrer of Manning. As well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen Thielen, in-laws: Clarene “Doc” and Elaine Sporrer, Tom Sporrer, and Michele Sporrer.
