Patricia Darveau, age 75, of Carroll, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Lectors will be granddaughters, Theresa Vogts and Sarah Wegmueller. Gift Bearers will be granddaughters, Nichole Johnson, Elisabeth Danner, Jill Blunk, Theresa Vogts, Yvette Darveau, Sarah Wegmueller, Christina Verhoef, Jessica Wegmueller, and Madeline Darveau. Eucharistic Ministers will be Norbert and Mary Kirsch. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard at the church for the funeral mass. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons, Damian Darveau, Jacob Shields, Robert Wegmueller, Anthony Darveau, Justin Wegmueller, Charles Darveau, and Henry Darveau. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. The family will meet with friends beginning at 9 A.M. Saturday at Holy Spirit Church. The Sharp Funeral Home of Carroll is in charge of funeral arrangements. Mrs. Darveau was born on April 12, 1934, at Zurich, Kansas, the daughter of Edwin and Irene (Senecal) Dramann. She spent her younger years in Kansas City, Kansas, and attended Christ the King Grade School and graduated from Bishop Ward Catholic High School in 1951. On November 8, 1952, she was married to Bernard E. Darveau at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. The couple lived in Kansas City, Fremont, Nebraska, and Marne, Iowa, before moving to Carroll in 1969. In 1974 they moved to Ames and then Omaha, Nebraska, and returned to Carroll in 1980. From 1981 until her retirement in 1999 Pat was employed by the City of Carroll as the Administrative Assistant for the Carroll Police Department. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, and Sisters of the Cloth Quilting Club. Pat enjoyed her family, painting, quilting, cooking, gardening, praying at the Adoration Chapel, and going to the Recreation Center. Survivors include her husband, Gene Darveau of Carroll; her children, Deborah Johnson and her husband Ken of Carroll, Patricia Cathleen Simpson of Seattle, Wash., Dennis Darveau and his wife Jean of Dayton, Minn., Michele Shields and her husband Terry of Spencer, Beatrice Wegmueller and her husband John of Athens, Wisc., Thomas Darveau and his wife Holly of Manning, and John Darveau and his wife Sandy of West Des Moines; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; her sisters, Agnes Kissinger of Oskaloosa, Kansas, Marie Blocker and her husband Jerry of Hutchinson, Kansas, Evelyn Fagen of Wichita, Kansas, Anita Suptic of Kansas City, Kansas, Doris Aller of Plattsburg, Missouri, JoAnne Hicks and her husband Roy of Overland Park, Kansas, and Jane Woehrman and her husband Jim of Kansas City, Missouri; and brothers, Lionel Dramann of Gladstone, Missouri, and Raymond Dramann and his wife Mary Ann of Basehor, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Loretta Wager; son-in-law, Bill Simpson; and granddaughters, Rachel Ann Darveau and Stephanie Marie Darveau.
